Cruiser blast!

A few days ago, I was riding back from watching the Sabres game when I happened upon this random construction pile of mess. These spots are the best because they only last for a short period so you have to make use of them right away. It was cold as hell outside, not sure how that works cause hell is generally thought of as hot. Either way the cold alleviated my tendinitis long enough for my friend Jay to shoot a couple of random shots. The pile might be there tonight, I've got my fingers crossed.

really cool. love how ur reppin the model-c at the minute. so coolthat someones taking cruisers seriously. i really hope the model-c sparks a revival of this sector. hopefully people will wake up and relise that if u wanna do bmx tricks with bigger wheels use a bmx with bigger wheels not a feckin MOUNTAIN bike.
really hope u keep riding this bike and promoting bigger wheels for freestyle.
p.s. really hope u do a 22"tt size........

You really like that cruiser don't you?

Oh by the way, you need to update the site for all this new stuff that's coming in.

brilliant. would be so cool if more pros dabbled in bigger wheels, eg a few lines in vids, photos in mags. give them positive publicity and their'll take off (literally!) Really need to get away from the past-it/has been stigma. There only bigger wheels for faarrcks sake.
soooooo much better than mtbmx - whatever the hell that is!
Also i'd prefer to see a longer frame than 21.75 available. 21.25, 21.5 and 22 would be good sizes.
also hope u really reign in the rear-emd length to make the handling as aggro as poss

actually 21, 21.5 and 22 would be better/cater to more peeps, i know u said u felt good on the 21
cheers jim, keep up the good work fella!

yeah i love it when i stumble upon shit like that. so much fun. sometimes the simplest stuff is the best.
any word on when these funky cruisers are gonna be out or the final frame/fork specs up on the site...?

really hope the chainstays are shorter than the 15.25 u stated b4, could easily lose an inch or so. IMO thats what makes most cruisers so old-skool/behind the times. that and the low bbs, although 13.75 seems too far the other way - thats higher than most 26s, surely it only needs to be above axle (12") - 12.75 - 13 sounds far more sensible in conjuction with sub 14.5 stays it'd be perfect

sick, spot looked fun, BTW You people are too tall lol jk anything above 21 is too much for me... Can't wait for one of those beast though, haha gonna kill it at the skatepark near here.

hey jim i am almost 2 metre tall. really loving to get one of these but would much prefer the longer frame - at least 567mm. also sorely with the bottom bracket at height the bars will still be low / difficult to have super high bars? will these be available outside US - I am in Czech Republic?

cool photos, when r these out, what is final geo, what are the sizes gonna be? 21.75 & 22.25 would be best i think...
also i really hope the rear end can be slammed to like 14.25 and the bb is a little bit lower - 13.25 ?
At the end of the day i really trust sunday so will probaly get one whatever, but having ridden a fair few cruisers and rigid 24 mtbs in my time thought i 'd chip in!

hi jim/sunday
been a while since i've been on here, really amped on the 09 range.
good to see sunday expanding. loving this model-c, bout time someone made a cruiser that rides like a bmx!
really cool that ur doing it as a frame/fork only but how come theres no wave downtube, and is the bb really supposed to be 13.75, would of thought 12.75 would be high enough.....?
the rear end seems a bit long as well, surely sub 14 would give it a more 20ish feel...?
are u going to do more sizes than the 21 (which is too short for me - would prefer a 22 if i'm gonna be rocking the 24s)
Anywayz - keep up the hard work and spot checkin!
Be eze

Awesome cruiser once again! Dont understand why there are so many people though that are most likely less experienced/talented riders/bikebuilders than Jim and the Sunday! team that think they know more about bike geometry? If rider and badass designer Jim C and a rider like Aaron ross think the geo works then why argue with that - Jim has been hardcore putting up awesome trick piccies which in my opinion suggest he has no probs with a short TT or long backend

yeah but thats a bit like saying a 20" with 14.75cs, 11.75bb and 20tt would feel pretty damn good if the all the other 20 frames had 15.25cs, 10"bb and 20.5tt.
however most 20s now have 13.75cs, and longer tts(or at least the option of a longer tt).....
Freestyle cruiser geo is real underdeveloped i think we need to look to the 20" bikes for clues as to good development, 3 years ago most 20" stays were like 14.75 now days there a full inch shorter....
personally i feel that without a shorter rear end the model-c is a bit half-hearted - blatantly a cruiser intended for serious trickery needs to be as nimble as poss, short stays AND high bb would do this.
i also think there aren't enough 21.5+ toptubes about to give us taller folk some options. bigger wheeled bikes are naturally more suitable for taller people and most tall people want more than a 21"tt
i say do a 21 for those under average height, a 21.5 for those around average (5.10 - 6.2) and a 22 for us ganglier gentlemen...
also no offence but just cos jim and aaron are amazing riders doesn't make them authoritys on cruiser geo...

...fair comment. I just think that people are awefully good at guessing perfect geometry to within 0.25 of an inch (about 6mm!) on a bike with radically different geometry than most have ever ridden.
We all know that even different bikes with similar sizing on paper can ride very differently. My 21" rebel contender feels way shorter than my old 21" Pantera.
I just reckon that being the only people that have ridden the model c the sunday boys at least know a smidge more than the rest of us.
I also think that jim c knows a fair bit about the progression of 20" wheeled bikes over the years as hes been riding for decades!(?) and runs one of the most progressive bike companies out there.
Question to Jim - surely you know 1 or 2 taller riders that could test out the C? (as everyone seems unsatisfied with your sub 6ft2" height!)

...also fair comment. i have nothing but the greatest respect for jim c and sunday! - in fact i own a v1 wave, night fork and a set of triumph bars - however i've also been riding 20" 4 over a decade, have owned a couple of cruisers and have ridden plenty of 24"dj mtbs.
this bike is so close to what i'm hankering after - a legit, modern freestyle orientated 24"BMX with high bb and super short stays. i also really think at least 3 sizes is needed to cater to all sizes/preferences and ages as from what i can gather the consensus of opinion seems to be erring towards the longer frames, probaly like u say from people over 6ft2 - surely the main demographic 4 a BIGGER wheeled bmx...

I still think you guys are too freakin tall...lol

from what i can tell the only thing different about this cruisers compared to the others (dk, haro, fit, subrosa, s&m, wethepeople, etc, etc) is the high bb. Surely thats not enough to make it as revolutionary as i'd hope it to be.
i also think shorter than 14.75 chainstays are needed and perhaps even a steeper headtube, or short offset on the forks. i also think a decent range of sizes from 21.25(where most 20"frames leave off) to 22.25 (where most 26"wheel frames start up) needs to an option to really mark this frame as quality/the real deal.

hi jim, I am an 8ft 6" lizard. I really want you to make a bike specifically for me - I have a long upper body, short limbs, a tail and an elaborate moustache. I would like a 10.678" high BB and 14.5673" stays and 22.0002" TT. But I will only buy the bike with 8.25" bars (3 degree upsweep)('cause of my short arms). Also aaron ross flouro red because I have a red brake lever and it should match.

cool spot. i loved that clip in all day where steven hamilton does the curved wallride on the federal cruiser. used to have one of those - twas real good fun to go out on super long rides and find massive hills to manual down! when are these gonna be out?
would be super nice to see more pros shredding on 24.
you should have a section in the sunday vid with all the team doing a few lines on the model-c....
....when u guys gonna put out a vid btw, bit overdue innit?
as far as sizes go i'd like a 22 also but twould settle for the 21.75 probs - and no i'm not a 7ft lizard! LOL!

hey jim/sunday!

just wanted to say that it's about time someone put a bit of thought into a 24 bmx.

i reckon you should take your time with it though, get a couple more prototypes made and experiment with the bb height/chainstay length dynamic a bit.
seems as though this one handles pretty nice but i reckon it needs refining and could ride even better.

if you get this right you could spark a whole new genre of riding and finally purge the parks and street of those god-awful mtb hybrid things!

When will these things hit the market? and an estimate on price already for a kit?!?! Or just the frame?

can't wait 2 get my hands on one of these, i've already got it built up in my head!
glad your shortening the rear end, this is sooo not gonna be a "cruiser" - u should change the name to model-b for bruiser!
are odyssey gonna make some 24" tyres to go with the rims?
i'd also prefer a 22 over a 21.75 but w/e....
