Check out some photos old photos from way back at Jared Souney‘s website.  These were shot on the first Kink tour back in 2000.  These photos were shot at old Shebang Skatepark in Erie, PA towards the end of the trip.  That tour was my first demo tour and the best memory was seeing the Leprechaun billowing white smoke somewhere in the mountains of Pennslyvannia!

Loose chain, and the heaviest bike you’ve ever owned?

I remember these pics. Whats the deal with the chin strap being soo tight? I could never figure that out.

old school…fry pan instead of sprocket)))

Nope definitely not the heaviest I’ve owned. had a blue empire with a 44 tooth, Kink chain and sprocket guard. Plus I was running a 14mm axle in the front. I bet that thing was hovering in the low 40lb range. To be honest, this was the trip where I saw TAj running a 36 with a Profile cassette hub, so it was the peak of the weight era for me.

The chin strap thing, I always sort of kept it tight so the helmet just doesn’t come off. If it comes off then you look like an idiot and your hurt. I think it just looks tight because of the trick.

I had a very similar setup that year. Kink Empire, 44 tooth animal sprocket, 14mm suzue hubs front and rear laced to alex triple wall rims. Very silly times.

Yeah those were weird times, it was cool because it really seemed like the turn of the century was a new starting point. Animal was just starting at this point, I’m not sure they had anything out yet during this trip. Odyssey began there resurgence around this time too. The bikes were funny because there was so much room for modifications like you could cut the dropouts and seat tube. With cassettes you could go lower and lower. There was like this quest to get a smaller and smaller gear size. Now you don’t really have to modify much because they’ve all become standard.
