Steve Kennedy built up a new Aaron Ross Funday the other day.  He sent me a funny photo that included this banner above along with another photo of him putting it through its paces.  Click below to see the rest of this photo and a little more!

i always liked the funday, but what sprocket could i run with an 8 tooth driver in the back, i like smaller sprockets

It sort of depends, does anyone make something like a 23. Its got to be out there somewhere.

  • ben

yeah there are 23 tooth sprockets, i actually really like the sprocky baloboa from animal in 23

  • smoovebert

    what size frame izzat?

  • jason

    steve rides a 20.5, I think, but that might be a 20? Definately a 20 or 20.5

  • Hiram

    Ya for a 23 T sprocket…

animal, colony, profile, federal, demolition etc. its more common than you’d think

  • Palombosarus-Rex

23 breaks chains though, so ya gots to be careful

  • denverstreet

its not the small sprockets that are hard on chains, it the smaller drivers. an 8 tooth driver doesnt spread the load over as many teeth as say a 9 or 10 and requires the chain to bend sharper around the small driver as well. put that all together and its real stressful on a chain. thats why so few companies make anything under 9 tooth drivers. not that their a horrible idea or anything, i ran an 8 tooth primo mix for over a year and only broke 2 chains.
