Saying Goodbye!

So The Come Up leaked this info awhile ago and I’ll confirm it now.  Karl Poynter has decided to leave the Sunday team.  I’ve been a fan of Karl’s unique view on riding ever since he was that 13 year old kid at the Four Seasons contest in Milwaukee back in 2001.  This explains why he was selected to be one of the first guys on Sunday when it was started almost 4 years ago.  Its been a great 4 years and I’m definitely going to miss him.  Wish you luck Karl!  Check out Karl’s words about moving on from the team after the jump.

I will be no longer riding for Sunday Bikes, but will still be supporting the brand and selling Sunday’s innovative product through my shop, Hardcore Sportz. I definitely want to make note that I had a good time riding and working with Sunday, from brain storming on new ideas, to the road trips, and everything inbetween. I really appreciate what everything Sunday has done for me. It’s been a fun 5 years and I wish Jim and Sunday the best!

This is the best trick Karl did while on Sunday. Manual up the double kink to backwards manual down. Too bad the footage was lost. Sorry!

Karl set up a Model C and got to ride it just a few times before moving on.

Jim, I surely would love that frame! Al-Bees!!!! ;) Come-on.

  • AJ

    damn, he was good too,
how com i never saw a link on vinnie sammon leaving?
anybody know who karl nd vinnie ride for now?

  • john

    karls on eastern

  • Durk

Yeah I was wonderign what happend to vinnie too. But then I realized no one cares who you are in bmx unless your doing footjam variations,luc-e grinds, or hang 5s and other “cool” tricks like that. Vinnie was seriously my fav sunday rider, and reason why I bought a sunday….shit don’t dent and ive slammed enough rails and ledges..Anyways hop over x up grinds don’t count aparently and more than half the bmx scene is electro poppin club boppin girls. Karl killed it too I donno why you’d go to eastern of all companies..

    good lucky.

  • Kieran

    WHY???

    Sunday are waaaayyy better.
    sellout.

  • erik

yeah i mean going from a company that makes probably the strongest frames out there to eastern idk well i guess karl doesnt do much jumping but anyways that kinda bothers me…

To be honest Karl was my favorite rider, he made me want to get a freecoaster, I loved his bike, damn im going to miss him

  • Rossi89

My to Fav Riders Are Aaron Ross and Karl Poynter and it just so happened that they ride for my fav bike brand. SUNDAY! (HE IS A MUPIT FOR GOIN)

Karl Poynter GOT me in to freecoasters and I am Happy that he did. THNXX KARL!

But now look at it this way Sunday still have a good team. U LOST A GOOD RIDER BUT HAVE SOO MUTCH MORE and as for your parts they are the best out there.

Karl won’t be in the new Sunday video and I wonted 2 see it for time!
    Shame!!!

But what did he wont from a sponsor’s u did a frame for him? And ok yer his new sponsors will give him a frame but we all no smart kids will still go for the Sunday. I was thinking in Karl was smart be in part of the Sunday team but looks like he’s “NOTTTTTT!!!!!!!!”

  • Brent

Man carl seemed to be a pretty smart kid up until now but thats just kind of stupid switching from one of the best companies in the bussiness to eastern

And this really kinda dissapointes me him and ian schwartz made me want a freecoaster so much to the point of watching their video parts from whichever video it was so many times and just their style was like noone else’s it stinks that Karl is moving on but thats life

Happy trails and good luck Karl

but it wouldve been a killer video part

  • Ammon

I hate to say it, but it was probuly a good move for him, shame i wanted to see his part.

People get real wrapped up in what other people in bmx do…

I’m sure his move to eastern was justified in his mind.

Go ride your bike. (I’m taking my own advice).

Jim C!!! Please you gotta tell us, what you are doing with Karl’s part that was filmed for the sunday video?
will it be on the sunday video? is karl just going to release it as a web edit? he obviously cant use it for eastern since hes riding a sunday in it… so whats up Jim, the people want to know.?

  • luke waltz

  • jeremy

i had a madusa sproket that bent when my bike fell on a curb, and this kid we were riding with one time broke his drop out and when i asked what kind of frame it was he said “don’t ever get a eastern… they suck!” so i got the animal vinnie sproket and i bashed the shit out it,still streight. f-eastern
