AJ, ok let me explain the drop out. The width of the dropout increases the strength dramatically. An 8mm dropout will be way stronger than a 5mm one. But….an 8mm dropout that isn’t hollow is going to be dramatically heavy. You get great strength, but its weight doesn’t make it functional. Basically the width makes it strong, but it being hollow makes it functional and light. Hope this answers your question.
