Model C in Holland!

Check out Paul de Groot‘s Model C which I believe is the first international one built up!  He said the bike changed a bunch since this photo had been taken.  He went with the Morning 24.1 forks, but opted away from the 24umphs to try the much taller Roseanne Bars from Solid.  The reason why is that he happens to be 6’6″ tall.   He had this to say about the Model C,  “The bike is insane!! It works exactly like you predicted, agile, lightweight, comfortable…..everything! I LOVE IT!!!”   Paul owns a small BMX shop in Holland coincidentally named Paul’s which does a good job promoting the scene there.  Check out his shop’s website at HERE!

Looks like one of them Specialized bikes from the 70s with the tires! Haha. Decent Setup though.

Wow, pretty much my ideal model-c set up. LOVIN’ the 9″ bars – must feel great with the high bb and being 6’6″.
If only there was a bit more toptube……..that said i would love to have a go on this bike……

also it would be sooooo rad to be able to run a frontloader! I always want what i can’t have!

Well.. I think the white walls look like some kinda old 26″ comfort beach cruiser myself lol.. Or Debos bike from friday? and those cranks whats with those? Otherwise it’s not too bad!

Jimc – Another brakeless cruiser? gotta have brakes on a cruiser! lol

Jim — a general question — we got the black fork and it sounds like there may be black 24umphs on the way — is there going to be a 3rd frame color any time soon? I have a green schwinn pro stock cruiser (inspiration for the Model C???), and the silver is a tad mongoose supergoose (which I dig), but I was just wondering if it may be worth waiting a few more weeks for a new colorway. Not trying to be a pain in the ass, but when you are planning on a ground up build and dropping the cash, every bit of info helps!

Yeah I don’t quite understand the brakeless thing on a cruiser, but I guess if you don’t run brakes on a 20 then you would probably do the same on the 24. Paul said he changed the tires since the photo was shot. He’s running Schwalbes right now instead of the white walls.

Davide5-There are black magic 24umphs coming, but as of right now there isn’t a black magic model c coming any time soon. If one happens it won’t be until the fall, if at all, so do the supergoose if you want.

Ok, so I looked up the Schwinn cruiser and the color is pretty similar. It wasn’t the influence for our color selection, think we were thinking old STA colors or something.

    For Us talls, a 24″ isn’t a cruiser…It’s our 20″. A 26″ would be our cruiser. With that said there’s nothing wrong with a brakeless model C.

Love the taller bars, makes it look more proportionate. And if it were longer it would be like a scaled up 20″, and look even more proportionate.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Listem to the man jim! – it’s all about proportions! I really hope these are selling well and that you decide to do a 22.25″ size on the next batch…….and untill then i’ll just keep banging on about it in the comments section!

Toby, You are persistent aren’t you. How tall are you again? You know what the funny thing is about the model c’s is that the smaller size has sold far better than the taller size. If you would have asked me when we first did this, I would’ve said it would be reversed. I really think you might be over thinking the length thing too much.

Aye, yer probaly right jim, i do tend to get a wee bit obsessive over really minor details! I’m 6’6 btw, i think alot of it’s to do with feeling quite self-conscious being so tall riding such a small bike – riding my deuce with massive bar height makes me feel almost normal, just love 2 have a sunday instead. 41Thermal rules!
Though looks like i may go down the custom route to get what i’m after….
