OG Sunday VS Austin church gap!

6/15/2009

SOLIDSTEEL Johno & the Church Gap from Clint on Vimeo.

This is really affirming! First, thankfully John Barker is all right and walked away from this. When the Sunday OG frame was designed, we intended it to be a durable frame capable of handling all types of riding. We also intended to be as light as functionally possible without sacrificing strength, quality and durability. I’ve heard at least 4 stories of bikes falling off racks at 70 mph and the frames being completely fine. So along with surviving Mike Hoder’s test riding, we can also add surviving the Austin Chruch Gap because John kept riding this frame for a while after this. I don’t know of very many frames where you can ride away on the dropouts and then still have a frame that you can use the next day.

OG frame was just before the 1st wave? What were the specs on the OG frame? Thats some crazy gappage!

  • chickensammich

i still have my sunday OG frame, love it

  • Sanmanderson

jesus. that was the best “crash” ever. i’ve never seen that happen to a wheel

  • toby

what amazes me is that neither his rim or his axle broke, only the spokes…..crazy!

  • Sean Zubek

    WOW.

  • Estlin

That was sooooo loud. I guess it was just the combination of tube popping and all the spokes simultaniously snapping. What a tough frame though! Glad to see he didn’t suffer any injuries.

“what amazes me is that neither his rim or his axle broke” watch it again thing rim is now an oval shape with a monster flat spot. The original frame is bullet proof mine still goin hard. And i’ve never seen one broken

  • Oolex

I ride an OG. Only had it for a while, but it’s still straight, has no dents and looks sweet.

  • Ethan

Holy shit, I didn’t even think that was possible!

  • BuckNasty

Thank Sunday for building one hell of a product for the customer.

is it just me or are the bars broken from the throw?

  • keith

lmao jim itd be funny if you sent this video to other bmx companes saying “lets see your frame do this”
and tell those bitches whats up and show what sunday is all about.

  • keith

yeash and chris i do think the bars broke from the throw

  • me

what amazes me is that those spokes gave out before those plastic eastern pedals did (hehehe) but yea i would like too see someone say that sunday frames are weak.i dont think it has ever been said before.

  • devon

SOLIDFUCKINGSTEEL now someone do the TEXAS DEATHGAP

  • Alvin

Nice i’m glad i bought a sunday no need of ever buying another frame! unless a train hits it! might derail it though. THANKS Sunday for great bikes and parts never heard of Sunday breaking!

johno is still riding that frame. sunday you should hook that kid up! buck nasty deserves it! he’s been shreding for ever and has never got anything for free,

  • lewis

My friends second wave fell off the bike rack doing 120kmp in an overtaking lane once and it was fine, it almost got run over by a truck though haha

  • mike

Jimmy Levan’s bike held up well, when he did this gap all the way back in the late 90s ;)

For some reason the gap looked much more scarier in this video!

    Good stuff.

  • orlando

your right it does look smaller than the one in props i dont got the ball to do that. send it

  • nick lancaster

he is still riding the frame .the only things that have been replaced on the bike is the handle bars and back wheel hes going back to austin to try it
