Words from Ian Schwartz,

About 6 months ago I reached a point with riding that it just didn’t feel the same as it used to. Although its been a dream come true and I would never trade any of it, I’m certain it’s time for me to move on.

I was raised on a family farm and enjoyed it as a kid, but lost interest as I grew older and found other things. Well a couple years back I started to find enjoyment in the goings on of it again and began to read and learn about it. I’ve been able to meet and work with many area farmers and found an entire world of ideas and opportunities to explore. My family has allowed me to lease a small 17 acre field on our farm and I’ve begun implementing my ideas for responsible, respectful and productive food growing. I hope to grow (but not too big), either on our farm or on my own somewhere else in or around my hometown of Lancaster, Ohio.

I still love riding, and will continue to ride, just not in the same way as I have for the past 4 or 5 years. I appreciate the kids that have had nice things to say online and in-person, and I’ve had an awesome time with the guys on the team.

Take care,

Ian

This is definitely a sad day for Sunday and BMX.  Although we fully support Ian’s decision, it’s tough to know that one of the most creative and unique guys in BMX is moving on to different challenges.  I’ve always appreciate his take on riding, it’s always been smooth, effortless, creative and it felt good.  The thing I always got from his riding was that a trick looked good from beginning to end.  The whole thing seemed like it looked effortless not just the trick itself.  I’ve been lucky enough to have ridden with him so much over the past 5 years.  He’s definitely been a great influence on my riding.  Ian, you’ll be missed here at Sunday and good luck to you!

Wow, this bummed me out. Ian was one of the main riders that got me into BMX. I loved his unique style and his whole peaceful attitude towards riding. Good luck with whatever life will throw at you Ian.

I respect Ian just as much as I respect Eli Platt… While they still love riding, they show that there is in fact more to life than just riding… Balance is key… Good luck to you Ian!

Totally bummed out by the news. Ian has been my favourite rider for years.

Best of luck Ian; thanks for some very inspiring riding that helped me get more enjoyment out of riding my own bike.

I have my fingers crossed that we might still see the odd bit of footage cropping up of him.

Ian is what got me into Bmxing, To the point where i bought a Freecoaster, And his Signature frame. (which by the way is awesome). I remember when I first started biking, I got a Sunday Ian sig frame not knowing anything about him, but I really liked the look of the frame. I looked him up and loved his style and based sone of the stuff I do off his style. such a bummer youre leaving, best of luck!

well i get it, doesnt mean you are done- in my case- and im no pro, i had to step back a bit and focus on a balance that allowed for getting work and wverything else done in life and still allow time to ride and hang with friends, if you are getting a large amount of land- that is many riders dream come true- you can build some sick shit to ride when you need to chill or get some riding in- i wish i would have bought an acreage, but the yard is coming along nice with a ramp for the new year- good luck free coastin roller!!!

  • callum

I just bought up up and away and as i am just beginning i needed to have a favourite and he just left !

Hello. This is kind of an “unconventional” question , but have other visitors asked you how get the menu bar to look like you’ve got it? I also have a blog and am really looking to alter around the theme, however am scared to death to mess with it for fear of the search engines punishing me. I am very new to all of this …so i am just not positive exactly how to try to to it all yet. I’ll just keep working on it one day at a time Thanks for any help you can offer here.

  • simon

    best of luck man
