These spots are the best because they only last for a short period so you have to make use of them right away. It was cold as hell outside, not sure how that works cause hell is generally thought of as hot. Either way the cold alleviated my tendinitis long enough for my friend Jay to shoot a couple of random shots. He says if feels really good on trails which is exactly what we intended this frame for. The Model D is designed for the trails with its longer rear end, higher bottom bracket and mellower headtube. We didn't attach the trail name so we could disguise a light weight frame. We designed the frame around specific users. This is for trails where a Second Wave would be for street. We took a Sunday Second Wave frame with all the super good features and let Karl come up with his own paint job. What he did was use a coral red just around the top tube/seat tube junction and have the rest of the frame be Black Magic. Then we played off his name sort of by using arrows for the decals. Look for this early next year. Check out more photos of the frame below.

<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.sundaybikes.com/uploaded_images/sunday_2ndwave_karlpoynter_3110-726908.jpg"target="new">

Eric L Bike Check and New Ian Color!

Eric Lichtenberger stop by the office for a pair of pedals and ended up leaving with a new bike. To be honest this is my favorite color that Sunday has ever done. The color is basically Post-It Note yellow and we were suppose to do a color similar to this for the original Wave frames that came out 2 years ago. Thankfully it will be another year before we do it all again and unfortunately its only a year before we have to do it again. Either way I wanted to take this week and talk about some of the products we showed at our booth.

New this year is Sunday's version of a cruiser called the Model-C, but luckily it doesn't come anywhere close to riding like a traditional racing cruiser rather if feels more like a larger version of a normal 20" BMX bike. Along with this frame, we made 24umph bars(7.25" rise) and Morning 24.1 forks which are just Morning 2.1 forks built into cruiser forks.

To be honest it was an experiment to see if we could make a cruiser more freestyle. So, immediately after Interbike, we put the frames together and discovered that our intuitions were correct. You could do basically every trick on it that you could do on a normal BMX bike. It was even possible to loop out with a rear end at 15.25". Rolling fakie was way more stable due to the longer wheelbase and the headtube at 74.5 degrees. Jumping was made easier by the larger wheel size and the longer wheelbase. We took it to varied terrain including 7ft minis, cement parks, wooden skateparks and my local college campus. Did slides, whips, jumped hips, manualed, picked, grinded, fuf-ed, spun, spun more, hangovered, hang-5ed, nose wheelied, crankslide, doubles runs, but alas no flairs or flips yet. First is Kurt Rasmusson's home video. If you don't know Kurt then you don't know that he works his ass off making kitchen cabinets with his dad. He does this full time and I'm not exactly sure how he is able to be so dialed on a bike while working that much. Most people as dialed don't work nearly as much or at all. The second video is of Mike Taylor and his buddy Nails who we give parts too. Its actually from a BSD trip they went on. You'll have to make it through a bunch of skatepark footage to see the guys riding, so hold tight.

Rasmusson Ranch from Lotek on Vimeo.

BSD summer roadtrip 08 from BSD on Vimeo.

Karl Poynter new bike photos!

<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.sundaybikes.com/uploaded_images/Karl_Sunday-766866.jpg"target="new">Sunday has gone black! On the UK trip we just finished up, everyone was riding a black frame except for Aaron Ross's Funday frame. Thought it was ironic, but its real good to know that we can change it up and the product is still the same. Look for Karl Poynter colorway soon!

Sunday UK trip! After a night of playing pool against Nottingham's finest ladies, we woke up to the raindrops as seen in the photo. Which leaves me time to bring you this update of our trip. As you know it is raining, but you don't know is we are right across the street from the Law Court tranny walls. Damn! Oh well, there is a chance that it will stop raining by 1pm. Either way we have a back up plan which involves riding in tunnels or under a bridge.

Yesterday we spent the day riding the two spots shown here. I'd show you more photos, but I left the cord for my camera at the previous hotel. The photo to the right is just a small fraction of what is at this building. We only rode this part of the spot because here we wouldn't get kicked out so quick. What made this spot even better was eating at the Whole Foods supermarket which made Aaron feel like he was at home.

Next, this photo is of Mike Taylor grinding up a rail at this estate somewhere near the other spot. I have no idea where it is because London is really overwhelming. Either way Mike had to be really creative just to get the speed for this rail. I rode down a bunch of corners and Ian did one of the funniest cruising lines ever. It wasn't really a cruising line per say because it was actually scary. The main photo shot during a trip to Barcelona, isn't just a Ruben wallride, its like a 270 to Ruben off the wedge on the right. It didn't seem like you could make it far enough to do the trick safely, but if you know Kurt then you know he did it first try. And this photo was taken just moments after trying chocolate cake mixed in salsa. Good times! The surgery went fine, the crutches were toleratable, but the physical therapy took way too long. My doctor said it could be 6 months and I didn't believe him, but he was right. So, after 4.5 months of not really being able to ride, my ankles are feeling healthy enough to start riding at a normal level. So to celebrate I jumped my car for my street's block party! Went too fast and landed flat way past the car. This was just a few moments before the rain began to pour down on the party.

Its perfect timing being healthy again, the Sunday video is going strong. Ian Schwartz, Alex Magallan and Jake Seeley are in and around Ohio and Pennsylvania right now filming. Aaron Ross, Ian Schwartz and myself are meeting up with Mike Taylor and Joe Cox in the UK next week. Here is what our winner Kyle Ruschell had to say about eating all that ice cream.

"Heres some pictures. We had to go to Target to buy the big bowl for $5. It was 4 Everybody sizes, and it ended up being just over $30 haha. I got a 3 friends to help me with it, and we barely put a dent in it. It was 1/4 chocolate, 1/4 cookie batter, 1/4 cheesecake, and 1/4 mint ice creams. It was covered in chocolate sauce, m&ms, rainbow sprinkles, grahm cracker crumbs, and whipped cream. Its in my freezer right now, Ill finish it off someday. Thanks again Jim!
Kyle"
