Ride BMX has my bike check up on their website. Jeff Z took a bunch of good photos while we were on the Sunday Swine Flu tour after Interbike. There isn’t too much new on the bike besides running a pivotal seat and post for the first time. The frame is an experimental Funday with traditional dropouts and only heat-treating on the Wave downtube. Not sure what will happen with this frame, but we just wanted to test out a lower priced frame and see how it would hold up.
Ian Schwartz was recently in southern California trying to escape the rain up in San Francisco. We ended up riding Woodward West, the DVS/Lakai warehouse and some other random street spots. While there was a spare moment, he did this bike check with Jeff Z for the RideBMX site. In other Ian news, he has had enough of San Francisco and headed back to Ohio to catch the last breath of winter. Check below for a few words from him about his SF experience! Ok, so you don’t know what had to be done to resurrect this video from the grave. Nowadays it seems like a video is dead when it can’t be found online. Just cause there’s a hard copy floating around somewhere, doesn’t mean its easily accessible. To get this part it took lots of emails, phone calls, getting a VCR and waiting for a camera from the UK. Either way this is my first real video part from Ride BMX‘s 2001 video release entitled Parts. My part was almost entirely filmed by Jeff Zielinski and the video was edited by Glenn PP Milligan. Hope you enjoy it!
This is sort of old news around Buffalo, but I’ve parted ways (on good terms) from the Sunday SkateBMX shop that I help co-found back in 2005. Go over to RideBMX and read the interview I did with Jeff Z about moving on. I’ve been trying to settle into a new office, so look for a photo tour soon.
BMXonline has a little interview with me about making video sections. The photo was shot by Jeff Z about a year and a half ago. I had been really interested in doing whips, barspins and 360 fakies on the steepest banks possible. I had already did a barspin on it awhile back, but I wanted to whip it. This whip in LA ended up being the steepest I’ve done.
A behind the scenes story from this night include the sprinklers turning on right as we finished setting up. It was disappointing because I had worked myself up to see if it was possible and now with the water in the way it was going to be very difficult to do. Mike Hoder ended up using his hoodie to clean up the water and try and make a dam, but it only worked for so long. You can the watermarks on the lower part of the bank and Mike’s hoodie in the background to the right. This is one of my favorite spots in LA even though the banks are really slippery.
