Garrett Reeves new Third Wave!

02.18.10

Garrett Reeves came by the office to build up a new Black Magic Third Wave frame.  If you don’t know Garrett, you will definitely know him soon enough.  Some interesting things on his bike are the super tall bars and the fact that he runs a 14 inch rear end to prevent looping out.  His bike is super tough, while only weighing in at a mere 23lbs.  Look for new Sunday frames including the Third Wave, Watermelon Funday and a mystery frame available around the first week of April.

  • Is it just me or did I see a shaved head tube on the bike check – Sunday Third Wave??

    Sweet set up.

  • Hell yeah Garret! Nice ride, and you SHRED!!

    tv time
  • the shaved headtube looks really nice

  • Bike looks good intill I saw the haed tube. It looks like your going backwards. Juat go back to press in head tube cups and call it a day. It does not look clean at all. :( That was the hole idea intergrated head tubes to LOOK CLAENER and SMOOTHER.

  • ^ not really, i’d say it was more about not having to use a sledge hammer to get the cups in, which is still the case with this design.

  • lowered and flipped stem, with 9 inch high bars.. ya that makes sense.

  • Really hope you start doing some bigger sizes on the 2010 frames, alot of other companies are starting to give us taller riders the choice of 21.5″………

Also hope the bars are at least 9″. I hate the way bar height creeps up ridiculously slowly and incrementally.

  • New frames sound rad. Didnt ben build garrets bike? Tell him he put the back tire on backwards!!

    Adam
  • Love the new bike but what stem is that?

    chad
  • flipped s&m or fit stem id say… looks sweet..kinda crazy with the headset..but its different and thats cool….i still ride 7.6 bars…guess im 2 old school…..ill ride my t1 bars till they break or bend…been almost 10 years still trucking along

  • so what… there making a NEW sunday funday OR just a NEW color?

    aussie
  • How does making something that’s already dented, dent resistance? Dumb.

I’ve ridden one of the second wave and the geo felt booooooring and didn’t have any life in it and felt too stiff. Maybe if you planning on not living past 50 then this is your frame. My UKBikeCo Revolution is WAAAAY better than this. I an do hopwhips on a whim, and I can even do tabes when I bunnyhop.

Gimicky already dented-”dent-resistant tubes”, massive gussets, overkill dropouts as thick as a telephone directory are for sketchy fat cows who can’t keep ledges from hitting their frames all the time. If these people shed some weight off the massive gussets, dented tubes and massive dropouts maybe they can ride as properly as pros do.

I’d rather ride a fuckin scooter than ride a shitty looking frame.
