Bike Check News
Fooman joins the UK Team!
Fooman has joined the UK Sunday team! This is his all Black Magic Ian Schwartz signature bike that he just got built up. Good style and a great mix of tricks makes him perfect for the team. If you don’t know him then you might remember him from this EDIT! Read the mini interview with him after the break!
Jim Cielencki Bike Check
Ride BMX has my bike check up on their website. Jeff Z took a bunch of good photos while we were on the Sunday Swine Flu tour after Interbike. There isn’t too much new on the bike besides running a pivotal seat and post for the first time. The frame is an experimental Funday with traditional dropouts and only heat-treating on the Wave downtube. Not sure what will happen with this frame, but we just wanted to test out a lower priced frame and see how it would hold up.
Gary Young Bike Check!
Here is Gary Young’s built up Third Wave prototype! We just announced he that he got on Sunday yesterday, but he’s been riding this bike since just after Interbike. His quote was “This feels so good! The geometry makes simple stuff like manuals and bunnyhops so much easier” Hopefully we’ll have a web video of Gary in action on the bike. Check below for his parts list!
Jim Cielencki Bike Check
Here is the Fluorange Funday I just built up to try out some new dimensions. I’ve been riding the my 24″ Model C for 2 months now and it was time to change it up and ride a 20 for a little while. I put together the Funday because of its 13.5 rear end length and the 11.5 inch bottom bracket height. The idea is that the lower bb will keep the bike stable and not too loopy while still allowing it to tailwhip and spin better. I grew up riding long rear end frames so having something this short is foreign to me. Hopefully the lower bb will counter act the short rear end. If not then its back to the Second Wave. I’ll update you over the next few weeks. Here’s my parts list below.
Chris Hilbrich Silver Model D
Chris Hilbrich just built up a silver Model D with Black Magic Morning 2.1 forks and Black Magic Triumph bars. He went over to Peter Pan Mini Golf in Austin to shoot these photos for this bike check. In other Chris news, he was recently on the Gypsy Tour about a month or so ago. And if you’re at any ABA Nationals around the mid west then you might see Chris tearing up the track. In fact, you’d see a number of people racing on Sunday bars and forks if you look close enough.
Eric L bike photo!
Eric Lichtenberger has been all over the place these past two days. He sent me this photos of his post-it note Ian Schwartz frame built up with white Triumphs and Morning 2.1 forks. Yeah, they both come in white along with a bunch of other colors. He had that awesome tailwhip wallpaper up over on the RideBMX sight yesterday and if you are going to be around Woodward West this week then you will be able to ride with him. He’s on his way there right now! And if you are a camper at Woodward West and really lucky then you might win yourself a brand new Sunday frame. We gave away a bunch of frames last year at Woodward West and we are doing the same this year.
Aaron’s (iPhone) Video Bike Check
Two video posts in one day?! The new iPhone has video capabilities now and we decided to play around with it. While visiting Austin, we used it to film a bike check with Aaron Ross and his new Fluorange Funday!

Sneak Peak: Maroon Ian Schwartz frame!
Click on the photo above to get a sneak peak at the latest Ian Schwartz limited color! This is the first frame with built in pivotal post! Not only do you get that, but you get Sunday 8mm hollow dropouts with built in chain tensioners, Wave downtube to prevent most dents, Director style wishbone and Odyssey’s 10 year old 41Thermal Heat Treating process along with a host of other features. Maroon is currently available in most places, but if you don’t see it then ask your local shop to call Blackout, QBP, Custom or SBS to get their hands on one. This photo was taken on Ian’s dad’s farm which Ian works on a few times a week.
Nuno’s Model-D
Here is Nuno Oliveira’s complete silver Model D set up. Not sure why it is in a tree? But that’s what he sent me. Simply, the Model D is the 20″ brother of the 24″ Model C. Its geometry and aesthetic are designed for trail riders specifically. It varies from other Sunday frame by having traditional plate dropouts, a non-waved downtube and a 14 inch rear end length. All the trail specs are listed below. Look for the frame available now!

Jim C Bike Check!
Check out this Warm Red Sunday Second Wave kit I built up recently. It has 20.75 inch tube top length and the back wheel is run at 14 inches to provide me with a little extra comfort for bunnyhops and manuals. I use Morning 2.1 forks and put Forumph bars on because the 4 degrees of upsweep feels better to me. Click on the photo to see the full view and a bunch of closeups! What do you think of the tires? I’m way into them!
